Hear from clients across different levels and backgrounds

“The teacher’s cueing helped me settle into the many layers of my body, often finding something new to explore within myself. These discoveries are precious to me. She cares deeply for her students. Her heart is warm and her laughter is contagious. She is solid and kind and I feel so lucky to have her as a teacher.”

Shannon Williams

“As a physical therapist, it was important to me to find someone who understands how to cue body alignment and positioning. Anne Marie’s experience and insight allows her to describe subtle movements specific to your body during each form and position, gently guiding you towards your best practice.”

Amethyst Guerrero

“As a true beginner, I was apprehensive about taking a yoga class. Anne Marie made my experience a true joy. She has an amazing ability to break down the different postures and help her students focus on key, yet less obvious movements. She has a deep knowledge and passion for yoga and it shines through in her classes and teaching.”

Private Yoga FAQs

How long is a private session?

Each private session is 60 minutes long. Please allow for a few extra minutes before and after your session to discuss anything relevant to your practice.

What is the benefit of a private session versus a public class?

Private yoga instruction with an experienced teacher ensures that every session is designed entirely to meet your individual needs and goals.  You will receive undivided attention as you move through your practice, learn proper alignment and modifications of different postures and transitions, and work on the aspects of yoga that you want most. Private yoga sessions provide a client with the freedom and flexibility to learn and practice at a customized pace, skill level, and style.

Private sessions with Austin Private Yoga are for you if you:

  • Want to learn the basics of yoga in the comfort of your own space

  • Are ready to take your practice to the next level and learn more advanced postures

  • Need a safe and effective way to return to exercise after recovering from an injury/ surgery /illness/ pregnancy

  • Would like to practice yoga that is customized for you and your goals

  • Require the privacy of an exclusive yoga service that is delivered right to you

I’ve never done yoga – is this right for me?

Absolutely! In fact, the best way to start yoga is through private practice. Begin on the right foot (and then the left) by learning the fundamentals and ensuring you’re always moving in a way that serves your body’s needs.

I’ve been practicing for years – how would a private session help me?

After years of practice, it is easy to forget the fundamentals that serve as a foundation to take your practice deeper. When your fundamentals are solid, your practice will be centered around the subtle body and the energetic components for more advanced postures.

Do I need to use my own yoga mat?

Yes! Please use your own mat for your comfort. If you don’t have a yoga mat, let us know and we can arrange to have one for you. You can also purchase a simple mat online ahead of time.

Where does the private yoga session take place?

Private sessions can take place in your home, Airbnb, office, or public park. Austin Private Yoga can help you decide which location would be best.

What if I have an injury?

Depending on the injury and insight from your doctor or physical therapist, yoga will likely be beneficial to your recovery. There are many modifications and variations to movement in yoga, including Chair Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Restorative Yoga, all of which your teacher has years of experience in.

Will yoga help my back pain?

Most likely the answer is always a resounding YES. The style of alignment-based yoga you will be practicing is designed to support, strengthen, and mobilize your spine. This style focuses also on the vitality of your sacrum, where your spine attaches to your pelvis, and the health of your psoas, the muscles that connects your upper and lower body, and attaches through your low back.
